AWM webinar mini-series: In control – managing cucurbit viruses for profitable vegetable production (1 of 3)

This webinar mini-series focused on area wide management (AWM) strategies to control viruses in cucurbits including cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) with researcher Craig Webster from the Western Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

Watch this recording to hear top tips and tools for identification, fruit symptoms, understanding the spread, as well as practical management techniques of the viruses.

AWM strategies for vector-borne diseases will help to prevent or minimise the development of insecticide resistance in vector populations, improve the efficiency of biological agents released for control of vectors, and better protect host resistance genes against the emergence of resistance-breaking strains of the viruses. It also provides management options when host resistance genes are not available.

The session is the first of three tackling different viruses and delivered by the Soil Wealth ICP project team over August to October 2022.
